The greatest threat is human sense of oceanic infinity and invulnerability. The ocean is powerful, but its balance is extremely fragile. Its crystal blue and mysterious depths create a false image of its pristineness. But the reality is different. Current state of underwater ecosystems is not good and this is due to extensive human activities – drastic overfishing of the oceans, bycatch, pollution with chemical substances, nitrogen fertilizers and plastics.
