Blue Patrol currently

12.11.2020

Now, during covid-19 crisis and restrictions, we are forced to transform the forces and activities of the Blue Life project. The Blue Patrol anti-poaching team has been moved from Bangkar to the Sikandang island base to reconstruct a volunteer camp there.

The deaf-mute Mustafa from Singkil was also given the job to make extra money during this crisis period, and he is also a very handy builder with wood. Due to the absence of volunteers for more than half a year, the camp was in a severely damaged condition, especially the floors and roofs.

We were forced to dismantle the yoga room and use the material to renovate the cottages and dining room. Roofs have also been repaired in exchange for metal, which will be covered from above with palm leaves and from below as suspended ceiling mats. The patrol boat has been repaired. Green Patrol will not only take care of the camp, but will go on patrol once a week. Realistically, we are considering extending active participation in the protection and monitoring of sea turtles also to dugongs and saltwater crocodiles in the Pulau Baynak archipelago.

At the moment, we are forced to transform the forces and activities of the Blue Life project. The Blue Patrol anti-poaching team has been moved from Bangkar to the Sikandang island base to reconstruct a volunteer camp there.

We expect to finally open our summer volunteer programs from June 2021.
