GREEN LIFE COSTA RICA
In April 2021, we launched the Green Life project in Costa Rica and the first 72 hectares of rainforest on the border with Tapanti National Park, which is part of the La Amistad biosphere reserve.
GREEN LIFE COSTA RICA
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT

GREEN LIFE COSTA RICA PROJECT ACTIVITY
- protection of the forest from destruction and illegal logging by redeeming it in the area of the national park boundaries
- protection of wild animals from poaching in the form of guard and monitoring activities
- educational programmes for schools
- cooperation with universities on research and monitoring of fauna and flora
- cooperation with SINAC and Tapanti National Park
- cooperation with Costa Rica NGOs
- volunteering programmes
PROTECTION OF THE FOREST FROM ILLEGAL LUMBERJACKING
The main project activity is the buying of primary and secondary forests in order to protect and preserve them forever. The land is owned by the Costa Rica branch of the Bosque para los Niños Children’s Association.
PROTECTION OF WILD ANIMALS FROM POACHING
According to people, the area of the Green Life Reserve in Costa Rica has been and is under pressure from poaching, mainly for the purpose of catching reptiles and birds, or hunting animals for meat. In all cases, this is an illegal activity that we intend to stop based on regular anti-police patrols and in cooperation with SINAC, Tapanti National Park and volunteers.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES FOR SCHOOLS
The Green Life Reserve will have a system of educational platforms where educational programmes for schools, children and young people will be organised. The programme will also include schools in nature and cooperation with young people within the Ranger Junior programme
COOPERATION WITH UNIVERSITIES ON RESEARCH AND MONITORING OF FAUNA AND FLORA
The Green Life Reserve creates conditions for students of national and international universities for the purpose of flora and fauna research, which is always aimed at nature conservation. Students will be able to be accommodated in a field station and will be able to carry out their research and monitoring activities there under pre-agreed conditions.
COOPERATION WITH SINAC (State Office of Nature Conservation) and TAPANTI National Park
The Forest Society intends to open a functional cooperation with rangers and SINAC, which will aim to cooperate on the ongoing monitoring program Eye of the Jaguar in the La Amistad Biosphere Reserve.
COOPERATION WITH NGO
The Forest Association will invite other organizations to cooperate and invite them to connect adjacent reserves, joint implementation of monitoring programs using trail cameras and transfer knowledge and information.
VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMS
International volunteering programmes are an important part of the entire Green Life project mission and the activities of the Forest Society for Children. After training, volunteers participate in all project activities, including monitoring, patrol activities, afforestation, educational programs and maintenance of the status of educational and Eco-touristic trails or campsites in the reserve.
