Otevření oceánského, vzdělávacího a velrybího centra Blue Life II.

Before we introduce you to the Blue Life Ocean Center in Cuajinicquil, Costa Rica in this post, we need to acknowledge the tremendous effort and help of volunteers, members of Justice for Nature, and Eye of the Ocean team players who participated in its completion. After several weeks of hard work, failure of the Costa Rican company to complete the construction, and minor problems with lack of funds at the end, we finally managed to open the center.

On 2/18/2023, at 11:00 a.m. Costa Rican time, we inaugurated the amazing Blue Life Ocean Education and Whale Center, which will become a pillar of protection and monitoring of Santa Elena Bay, a center for education, awareness and public discussion on the sustainable use of Santa Elena Bay.

We are excited, happy and proud of the work of all our colleagues and supporters, partners and sponsors, volunteers and team members. Approximately 50 people participated in the opening, including our members and volunteers, representatives of ACG Guanacaste, the Coast Guard, and the local community and non-profit organizations. The presentation was led by marine biologist and marine mammal specialist Frank Garita, ranger and head of Santa Elena Bay monitoring Christian Zuniga, and Anna, representative of an organization that researches ancient Native American petroglyphs in the region. While the center was opening, our project ship, The Spartan, was swinging in the harbor and braving the strong winds on a buoy, awaiting the completion of repairs and the opening of the Eye of the Ocean monitoring program.

The unique vegan banquet was prepared by Karel Černý and Verča Karpíšková from VeggieDick from Mikulov, and everyone was licking their ears and could not believe that meat was not part of the banquet.

So what to add?

It is open and we are waiting for you!

Welcome and thank you.
